Sunday Baseball Lines – Slam the Twins, White Sox and Over in the Bronx
The baseball lines week closes out at Diamond Sportsbook on Sunday with a loaded slate of Interleague opportunities. There’s a couple of solid spots on the wagering menu on this day of rest, and here’s a look at some of them with today’s 3-pack of winners!
Colorado Rockies (Juan Nicasio) vs. New York Yankees (Ivan Nova)
Yankee Stadium 2:05 ET
This pitching match-up has all the makings of what should be a high scorer in the Rockies and Yankees series finale in the Bronx. Rookie Juan Nicasio will be making his first career start in Gotham, and the bright lights of the big city could get to him right off the bat. The youngster only has two career road starts under his belt, and in those outings combined, he’s surrendered 16 hits and nine ERs through just 10.2 innings of work. He just got tattooed in Cleveland to the tune of seven hits (2 HRs) and six ER through only 4.2 IP.
Opposing him is Ivan Nova who looks to have gotten a handle of pitching at the Major League baseball lines level, but we feel he’s been pitching way over his head and is due for a major correction. He sports a 4.76 ERA and a lofty .291 BAA in eight home starts to date, and with the way the Rockies have been swinging the lumber of late, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him get the early hook in this spot.
SLAM THE OVER!
Minnesota Twins (Carl Pavano) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (Chris Narveson)
Miller Park 2:10 ET
While the Brew Crews been at their best in the comfy confines of Miller Park, we look for the Twins to take the series finale behind Carl Pavano who enters his 16th start of the season on fire. He’ll toe the starting bump in Milwaukee after having just thrown eight brilliant innings of two ER ball in the Twins 9-2 bludgeoning of the Giants by the Bay last Tuesday night. He’s given up two or less ERs over the course of his L/30 overall innings of work (4 starts).
Making matters worse for Chris Narveson and the hosts in this spot is the fact that Minnesota has experienced its most success at the plate against left-handers. Heading into Friday night’s baseball betting lines series opener, Minny was hitting .282 against them its L/10 games and stood 12-9 ( +$570 ) vs. them overall. With the talent Milwaukee has up and down its roster, they should be running away with the Central as bad as Cincinnati and St. Louis have been playing of late. Minnesota’s finally playing to the level MLB bettors have gotten used to seeing through the years, so look for the Twinkies to take full advantage of Milwaukee’s hit or miss tendencies!
SLAM THE TWINS!
Washington Nationals (Livan Hernandez) vs. Chicago White Sox (Philip Humber)
U.S. Cellular Field 2:10 ET
To be successful in the online sportsbook this time of year, you must catch onto developing trends early and look for pitchers and or teams on hot streaks. Well, you don’t get much hotter than the Palehose Philip Humber who leads the starting pitching staff with seven wins and has led Chicago to four straight victories after tossing one heck of a game in the desert his last time out. He limited the NL West leading Arizona Diamondbacks to just a pair of ERs while striking out five and walking one through his 7.2 innings of work. The White Sox have now won six of his L/7 overall starts.
Washington invaded the south side of Chicago with a mixed bag of feelings. On one hand, the Nats are over .500 this deep into a season for the first time since 2005. On the other, they are going into battle without former manager Jim Riggleman who resigned after Thursday’s walk-off win over Seattle. Tough to tell how the team will react over the weekend, but what we do know is that the White Sox have simply blown starter Livan Hernandez up to the tune of a 6.88 ERA & .356 BAA in three career starts vs. them. More of the same will occur Sunday as Humber notches his 8th win of the 2011 baseball wagering lines season.
