NCAA Football Betting Previews- No. 17 Florida Gators at No.1 LSU Tigers

The Florida Gators will look to bounce back from an 18-point loss to the No. 3 team in the country when they take on the No.1 ranked LSU Tigers in another huge SEC showdown. Kick-off from Tiger Stadium is slated for 3:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
Florida came into last week’s game against Alabama a perfect 4-0 straight-up, but was over-matched on both sides of the ball in a 38-10 loss as a 3.5-point home underdog. The total went ‘over’ the 43.5-point line and has now gone ‘over’ in its last three games.
To add injury to insult, it looks like Gator quarterback John Brantley will be on the sidelines for this game after leaving last week’s game with a leg injury. If he cannot go, you can expect Florida to rely heavily on a running game that is averaging 210.2 yards a game. Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps have combined for 739 yards and six touchdowns on 111 carries in the first five games.
LSU has rolled to an impressive 5-0 SU start (3-2 ATS) with victories over three ranked opponents. Its only close-call so far was a 19-6 win over Mississippi State as a 3.5-point road favorite on Sept. 15. The total has stayed ‘under’ in three of its five games.
The Tigers margin of victory has them ranked 19th in the nation in scoring with an average of 38 points a game, while ranking ninth in points allowed; giving up an average of just 12.8 points a game. They have been extremely balanced on offense with an average of 177 yards passing verse an average of 172.6 yards a game running the ball.
Florida is 2-6-1 ATS in its last nine games against a team with a winning record and 6-3-1 ATS in its last 10 games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of its last six games in the SEC.
LSU is just 8-17 ATS in its last 25 home games, but 6-4 ATS in its last 10 games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of its last six conference games.
This series has been split right down the middle at 5-5 SU in the last 10 games, but the Gators have the edge ATS at 7-3. Last season in Gainesville, the Tigers pulled-out a 33-29 victory as 6.5-point road underdogs and the total went ‘over’ the 43.5-point line.
Given Florida’s struggles to move the ball against Alabama last week , you would have to think that not much will change this Saturday against an even better defense. Take the Tigers and give the points in this one.
The Pick: LSU 28 Florida 13
