NFL Upset of the Week – Week 6
Picking upsets in the NFL is never easy, because week-to-week any team can beat another and this is where the term “Any Given Sunday” was born. Week five in the NFL was a perfect example of this as the New York Giants fell victim to the Seattle Seahawks and the biggest upset of the week. While these upsets every now and then, the focus should be on the smaller lines in the week.
For example this week the St. Louis Rams are double digit underdogs to the Green bay Packers. The Jacksonville Jaguars are also double digit dogs to the Pittsburgh Steelers and although either of these dogs may bite, it is highly unlikely.
Once glance at the odds and latest lines for week six show plenty of games with a small line. The Eagles and the Redskins are just a one point difference, and Carolina and Atlanta are not very far apart. It’s these type of games that are more likely to provide an upset, which is why the upset of the week this week, is the Minnesota Vikings to beat the Bears.
The Bears are listed as just small three point favorites in this game and are at home after a short week. The Bears still have big problems protecting the quarterback and the Vikings can exploit this weakness. Jared Allen is a monster on the outside and can apply the pressure to Jay Cutler.
The Bears are 2-13 ATS in their last 15 games in Week 6 and 0-4 in the last four games in October. This game will be close and will turn out to be the bailout game of the night as it will be featured on Sunday Night Football.
Don’t get suckered into dropping the small points and instead take the underdog and cash in with the upset of the week.
