College Football Lock of the Week – Week 9 Pick
In college football “locks” are hard to find as the landscape is always changing. One week a team can play great and then they could fall hard the next week. This is exactly the case this week when the Louisville Cardinals host the Syracuse Orange.
Syracuse is coming off the biggest win of the season after they took down the top ranked West Virginia Mountaineers. This game was not even close as Syracuse dismantled the Mountaineers live on national television for all to see. This game was huge and emotionally the Orange will be hard pressed to meet that level of intensity taking on Louisville. The latest line should show more.
Louisville opened up at three point favorites despite the fact Syracuse had a big win last week. After the line was announced 74% of the betting public piled on the Orange after watching them play well on ESPN. Louisville has little exposure, so it was easy to go against them, but that is a mistake.
In fact Louisville has some great talent to include, Jeremy Wright who runs the ball out of the backfield. The sports betting trends also favor the home team.
The Cardinals are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game, 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite of 0.5-3.0, and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
The Orange are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a road underdog of 0.5-3.0, and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win.
Louisville gets the win as the lock of the week in college football.
