NCAA Football Betting Previews- Auburn Tigers vs Georgia Bulldogs
NCAA Football Betting Previews- No. 20 Auburn Tigers vs. No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs
Point spread: Georgia -13.5
The Auburn Tigers travel to Sanford Stadium in Athens this upcoming Saturday afternoon for a SEC inter-division clash with the Georgia Bulldogs as both teams try to continue and move up in BCS rankings. The kick-off in this one is slated for 3:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
Auburn will not repeat as national champions, but it still has a shot at getting into a major bowl if it can close-out the season with a couple of more wins. It is coming off a bye and is currently 6-3 straight-up overall (4-5 against the spread) and 4-2 SU in conference play. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of their nine games this season.
The Tigers’ offense is far less potent with Cam Newton gone, but it still packs-a-punch on the ground with running back Michael Dyer leading the way. He has already racked-up 989 yards rushing and a team-high nine touchdowns through the first nine games.
Georgia comes into this matchup with a half-game lead in the SEC East Division at 5-1 SU in conference play. It is 7-2 SU (6-3 ATS) overall after last Saturday’s 63-16 romp over New Mexico State as a 34.5-point home favorite. The total went way over the 56.5-point line and has now gone ‘over’ in five of its nine games this year.
Balance across the board has been the key for the Bulldogs’ current seven-game winning streak. On offense, they are averaging 253.2 yards a game in the air and 175.6 yards a game on the ground, while putting-up 34.8 points a game. Defensively, they are giving-up just 19.9 points a game, which is ranked 23rd in the nation.
Auburn is 13-3 ATS in its last 16 games in the SEC, but just 3-8 ATS in its last 11 games as an underdog on the road. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 18 of its last 26 games as a road underdog.
Georgia is 4-1 ATS in its last five conference games and 4-0 ATS in its last four games as a home favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in 10 of its last 14 games at home.
The home team in this series is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings and the total has gone ‘over’ in four of the last six games overall. The Bulldogs are 4-1 SU in the last five games (3-2 ATS) and while 13.5 points is a hefty spread against a solid Auburn team, stick with them to win and cover at home as they have their sights set at a possible shot at LSU in the SEC title game early next month.
