NCAA Football Betting Previews- No.7 Oregon Ducks vs. No.4 Stanford Cardinal
Point spread by Viet Bet The #1 Asian Sportsbook Online: Stanford -3.5
The Oregon Ducks will look to take over the top spot in the PAC-12 North Division this Saturday night by knocking-off the undefeated Stanford Cardinal in this huge conference showdown. The kick-off from Stanford Stadium is slated for 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
Oregon’s national title chances took an early hit with an opening-day loss to LSU, but since then it has reeled-off eight straight wins to put itself in prime position to get back into the BCS top five with a win on Saturday night. The Ducks beat Washington 34-17 this past Saturday as 16.5-point road favorites to run their overall record to 8-1 straight-up (5-3-1 against the spread) and a perfect 6-0 SU in conference play. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of their nine games.
To have any chance to pull-off the upset, Oregon will need another huge effort from a rushing offense that has averaged 298.4 yards a game this year. Heisman-hopeful LaMichael James has been a big part of this success with 1,061 yards rushing and nine touchdowns, but Kenjon Barner has also come up big with 601 yards on the ground and eight TD’s.
Stanford’s run to the top five of the BCS rankings has been behind a passing attack led by another Heisman candidate, Andrew Luck. He has been able to spread the ball around all season long with the help of a veteran receiving corps led by Griff Whalen, Coby Fleener and Chris Owusu. These three have combined for 91 receptions for 1,341 yards and 12 TD’s.
The Cardinal comes into this showdown fresh off a 38-13 victory over Oregon State as 20.5-point road favorites to keep their record perfect at 9-0 both SU and ATS. Their third-ranked scoring offense and 11th ranked scoring defense have combined to produce an incredible 31.6-point average margin of victory.
The Ducks are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven conference games, but just 1-3-2 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of their last seven games on the road.
The Cardinal are 21-7-1 ATS in their last 29 games in the PAC-12 and 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games following an ATS win. The total has gone ‘over’ in 11 of their last 14 home games.
Oregon is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings and the total has gone ‘over’ in the last six. While a total line of 72 points would tempt anyone to play the ‘under’, both these teams know how to light-up a scoreboard. Stick with Stanford to score the most points to come away with a win at home that easily covers the 3.5-point spread.
The Pick: Stanford 45 Oregon 31
