NCAA Football Betting Previews- No.5 Oklahoma Sooners vs. No.22 Baylor Bears
Point spread: Oklahoma -14.5
Over/Under: 75
The Oklahoma Sooners tangle with the Baylor Bears this Saturday night at Floyd Casey Stadium in a must-win game to keep both their Big 12 and BCS title hopes alive. The kick-off for this one is set for 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
Oklahoma has worked its way back into the BCS title picture with back-to-back victories over Kansas State and Texas A&M after a heart-breaking 41-38 loss to Texas Tech as a 29-point home favorite on Oct.22. It punished the Wildcats 58-7 as a 13-point road favorite three weeks ago and knocked-off the Aggies 41-25 on Nov. 5 as a 13.5-point home favorite. It is now 8-1 straight-up (6-3 against the spread) overall and 4-0 SU (3-1 ATS) on the road.
The past two wins have proved costly after running back Dominique Whaley went down with a broken ankle against Kansas State and wide receiver Ryan Broyles tore up his knee against the Aggies. The Sooners still have quarterback Landry Jones, who will look to running back Roy Finch and wide receiver Kenny Stills to step-up in their place.
Baylor closed as a 20.5-point road favorite this past Saturday, but needed overtime to get by Kansas 31-30. It is now 6-3 SU (4-4 ATS) on the season overall and 3-3 SU in conference play. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of its last eight games.
If the Bears are going to have any chance at upsetting Oklahoma, they will need a huge game from Robert Griffin III. He has completed 74.2 percent of his passes this season for 3,093 yards and 29 touchdowns. He has also been a threat with is feet with 489 yards on the ground.
Oklahoma is 4-1 ATS in its last five games as a road favorite and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of its last seven games as a favorite overall.
Baylor is 5-16 ATS in its last 21 games as a home underdog. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of its last seven games as an underdog.
Head-to-head in this series, the road team is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the Sooners are 7-1 ATS in its last eight trips to Floyd Casey Stadium. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of the last four meetings. With so much still on the line for Oklahoma, look for the Sooners to make short-work of the Bears come Saturday night.
The Pick: Oklahoma 38 Baylor 20
