NCAA Football Betting Previews- Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Michigan Wolverines
NCAA Football Betting Previews- No.16 Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. No.18 Michigan Wolverines
Point spread: Michigan -3
Over/Under: 50.5
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will look to keep their Legends Division title hopes alive when they tangle with the Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium this Saturday in a huge Big Ten showdown. The game is set for 12 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Nebraska comes into this game fresh off an emotional 17-14 victory over the much maligned Penn State Nittany Lions. The game ended in a ‘push’ and stayed ‘under’ the 43.5-point line. The win moved the Cornhuskers to 8-2 straight-up (3-6-1 ATS) overall and 4-2 SU in conference play; just one game in back of Michigan State with a 24-3 win over the Spartans already in hand. The total has now stayed ‘under’ in six of their 10 games this year.
Rex Burkhead leads a Nebraska ground game that is ranked 13th in the nation with an average of 232.7 yards a game. Burkhead has rushed for 1,072 yards and is averaging 5.1 yards a carry. Overall, the Cornhuskers are ranked 36th in the country in both scoring (32.9 points a game) and points allowed (22.2 points a game).
Michigan has already lost to Michigan State so it would need some help to claim the first-ever Legends Division title. It is 4-2 SU in conference play and 8-2 SU overall (7-3 ATS). Last Saturday, the Wolverines knocked-off Illinois 31-14 as one-point road underdogs. The total stayed ‘under’ the 48-point total and has now stayed ‘under’ in seven of their 10 games this season.
Denard Robinson continues to be the primary threat for Michigan on offense with both his arm and his legs. He has thrown for just 1,611 yards and 13 touchdowns, but he has run for 864 yards and 12 TD’s. This team also has one of the best defenses in Division-IA; giving-up an average of just 15.5 points a game.
Nebraska is 5-1 ATS in its last six games as an underdog and 3-1-1 ATS in its last five road games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of its last six games on the road.
Michigan is 4-1 ATS in its last five games as a home favorite and the total has stayed ‘under’ in four of the five games.
These two teams have not played one another since a 2005 bowl game in which the Cornhuskers outlasted the Wolverines 32-28 as 10-point underdogs. This time around it will be a much lower scoring affair against a Michigan team that is a perfect 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS at home this season. Stick with the Wolverines to grind out a win that just barely covers the three points.
The Pick: Michigan 20 Nebraska 16
