NFL Week 11 Betting Previews- Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants
Point spread: New York -3.5
The Philadelphia Eagles will try an salvage what they can from a lost season when they square-off against the New York Giants this Sunday night at MetLife Stadium in a clash between last and first in the NFC East. The kick-off is slated for 8:20 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBC.
Philadelphia’s 21-17 loss to Arizona last week as a 13.5-point home favorite set of dubious franchise record as it was the fifth game this season it blew a lead in the fourth quarter. It also dropped the Eagles into a tie with Washington for last place in the division at 3-6 both straight-up and against the spread. The total stayed ‘under’ the 47-point line against the Cardinals, but it has gone ‘over’ in five of their previous eight games.
To add injury to insult, Michael Vick took yet another beating in this game and as a result fractured two ribs. He is still listed as questionable, but expects to be ready to go come Sunday night. The real insult is the amount of money that the Eagles spent to bolster a defense that has woefully underperformed this season.
New York is coming off a stinging defeat after dropping a 27-20 decision to San Francisco last Sunday as a four-point road underdog. The loss cut its lead in the East to just one game over Dallas with a record of 6-3 SU (4-4-1 ATS). The total went ‘over’ the 42.5-point line against the 49ers and has now gone ‘over’ in five of its nine games.
The Giants owe a good portion of their success this season to the revitalized play of Eli Manning. He is having one of his best seasons as a pro with a career-high completion percentage of 63.1 and 17 touchdown throws verse eight interceptions. This is a far cry from last season when he personally turned the ball over 30 times.
Philadelphia is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog. The total has gone ‘over’ in nine of its last 10 games on the road.
New York is 2-6-1 ATS in its last nine games as a home favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of its last nine games at home.
Head-to-head in this series, the road team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings and the underdog is 12-2 ATS in the last 14 games. The Eagles are 6-1 ATS in the last seven games overall and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 11 of the last 15 games played in New Jersey. They way Philly is playing you can basically throw these trends out the window as New York makes it a clean sweep this season after beating them on the road earlier in the year.
