NCAA Football Betting Previews – Arkansas Razorbacks vs LSU Tigers
Point spread: LSU -12
National title hopes will be on the line for both teams this Friday afternoon when the Arkansas Razorbacks and the LSU Tigers square-off at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge in another huge showdown in the SEC. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 1:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
Arkansas has risen all the way to third in the latest BCS rankings behind a seven-game winning streak that includes a 44-17 victory over Mississippi State this past Saturday as a 13-point home favorite. The Razorbacks are now 10-1 straight-up (7-4 against the spread) with the total going ‘over’ in seven of their 11 games.
They have gotten to this point behind an offense that is averaging 316.9 yards a game through the air and 39.3 points a game on the scoreboard. Tyler Wilson has thrown for 3,215 yards and 21 touchdowns with Jarius Wright on the receiving end of 1,002 of those yards and 10 of those TD’s.
LSU has stayed on top of the college world behind a defense that is giving-up an average of 10 points a game. It has held its opponents to 10 or less points in eight of their 11 games this season and has yet to give up more than 11 points in its last seven games.
The Tigers come in at a perfect 11-0 SU and 8-3 ATS. They are 6-0 SU at home, but just 3-3 ATS. The total has been evenly split at 5-5-1 over the course of the 11 games and has stayed ‘under’ in three of their last five games at home.
Arkansas is 16-5 ATS in its last 21 games in the SEC and 16-6 ATS in its last 22 games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of its last seven road games.
LSU is 5-0 ATS in its last five conference games and 5-1 ATS in its last six games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 15 of its last 22 games at home.
The road team in this series is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings. The Razorbacks are 4-1 ATS in their last five trips to Baton Rouge and 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of the last five games overall.
The Tigers continue to play at a high level and will be next to impossible to beat at home, but stick with Arkansas and the 12 points to keep things close enough to cover.
The Free Pick: LSU 20 Arkansas 17
