Monday Night Football Prop Sheet: New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints
The New York Giants and New Orleans Saints are going to duke it out on Monday Night Football at the Louisiana Superdome on Monday Night, and here at Bang the Book, we’re going to take our picks for some of the MNF props on the board for one of the biggest games of the weekend! First Score Of Game Field Goal Or Safety (+160): When you think of the Giants and the Saints, you think of two teams that capitalize in the red zone over and over. However, there is no way that there isn’t at least a 40% chance that a field goal or a safety comes before a touchdown. New York plays particularly stingy red zone defense, and on the other side of the ball, it doesn’t have much of a short yardage game. The G-Men have 28 TDs against 10 field goals this year, while the Saints have 35 TDs against 22 field goals. We’ll take our chances that one of those field goals is coming to start this game off.
Eli Manning Over 21.5 Pass Completions: With RB Ahmad Bradshaw likely out of the fold for yet another week, the Giants just don’t have the bodies at running back to be able to make a big difference with their ground game. Now, throw in the fact that the Saints play a significantly faster game than most in the league and the fact that New York is likely going to be trailing for the majority of the game, and the makings are there for a ton of completions for Manning. He’s got a healthy set of receivers to work with assuming that WR Mario Manningham plays, and even if he doesn’t, what he does already have this year is 355 pass attempts in 10 games. Completing around 60 percent of his passes at that type of clip will get the job done for us.
Darren Sproles Over 79.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards: Sproles is absolutely the little engine that could. The diminutive back has averaged 79.6 yards of offense per game this year, but now, he is going against a New York defense which often loses track of backs out of the backfield. Sproles has a great opportunity to do something special in this game, and he is the biggest threat out there to score from anywhere on the field. We think that he gets the job done and totals at least 100 yards as a rusher and a receiver on Monday.
Hakeem Nicks Under 4 Receptions: For whatever reason, Manning has just stopped looking in the direction of Nicks. The former North Carolina Tar Heel had at least four receptions in six of his first seven games before getting hurt with a hamstring injury. We don’t know whether it’s the hamstring or the emergence of Victor Cruz as one of the favorite targets for Manning, but Nicks only has five receptions for 110 yards in two games since coming back to the fold. That doesn’t bode well for a man that needs five receptions in this game to beat us.
