The Owls claim-to-fame this season was two-fold. First, they had the seventh-ranked rushing offense in the nation led by duo of Bernard Pierce and Matt Brown, who combined for 2,245 yards on the ground. Pierce also led the team in scoring with 25 rushing touchdowns. Next, they boast a defense that is ranked third in points allowed; giving-up an average of just 13.8 points a game.
Wyoming finished third in the MWC with a conference record of 5-2 SU with losses to TCU and Boise State. Overall, it was 8-4 SU and 7-5 ATS. The total stayed ‘under’ in seven of its 12 games overall and in its last five games of the season.
The Cowboys bring a solid rushing attack as well into this game with an average of 185.1 yards a game. Its defense ended the season giving-up an average of 27 points a game, but tightened things up down the stretch by holding its opponents to an average of just 20.5 points over its final four games.
Temple is 10-1 ATS in its last 11 non-conference games and 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games following a SU win. The total has gone ‘over’ in its last four games.
Wyoming is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games overall and 4-0 ATS in its last four as an underdog. The total has stayed ‘under’ in three of its last five games following an ATS loss.
The game should be a hard-fought battle in the trenches between two teams that love to run the ball. This plays right into the Owls’ strength as they come away with the victory that covers the 6.5-point spread.
