Football Odds: Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys Pick
Rivals from the NFC East duke it out in what could be one of the more intense NFL betting battles of Week 16, as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys in Big D.
The Eagles are most certainly going to be scoreboard watching this week. They’ll know before this one kicks off in all likelihood whether the game means anything or not. If the New York Giants go “on the road” and beat the New York Jets, Philly’s season is said and done with. If not though, the Eagles need two wins and some help next week from New York by beating this Dallas team to win the NFC East and to very improbably get into the playoffs. If Philly doesn’t get into the playoffs though, this could be the last time that the fans in the City of Brotherly Love get to see Head Coach Andy Reid on the sidelines, as we have to imagine that he would be dismissed. The good news is that QB Michael Vick has really started to play well, and all of a sudden, the team has really caught its stride. It had shown some flashes earlier this year, picking up wins over these Cowboys and the aforementioned Giants in fine fashion, but these last two games against the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets were the best two of the season for the Eagles.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are just trying to hang on tight to their playoff spot. They did get the job done last week by killing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-15 in a game that was never really all that close, and they now know that a win in this one parlayed with a New York loss would win the division and make Week 17 a meaningless game in the Meadowlands. That being said, Dallas still has to be kicking itself for losing to the Giants after leading by 12 late in the fourth quarter and for losing in overtime to the Arizona Cardinals in a game in which it was leading most of the way and had a chance to win with a field goal at the gun. Either win, and the sweating would be over with for the Cowboys and for Head Coach Jason Garrett, who has to be considered on the hot seat if he blows Dallas’ playoff berth.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys Trends: The Cowboys are trying their best to get a home game in the first round of the playoffs, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing. They are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games. Meanwhile, the Eagles are used to floundering in Week 16, as they are 2-6 ATS over the last eight seasons in this week. Philly has a great record in division though, and it only has the one shocking home loss against the Giants to show for its whole season, so this could be yet another upset to help move it closer to the postseason.
