NFl Lock of the Week – Week 17
This I the last week of the NFL season and finding a lock is not always easy this time of year. One of the first things that you should look for as a handicapper is a team that still has something to play for. Enter the Oakland Raiders, fresh off a win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
If they can win against the San Diego Chargers and the Chiefs can beat Tim Tebow and the Broncos, the Raiders will be headed to the NFL playoffs. The Raiders certainly have the motivation. The second thing is to look for a team, recently eliminated from the playoffs that have nothing to play for.
In an embarrassing loss to the Detroit Lions, the surging San Diego Chargers were eliminated from the playoffs. This team is done. The coach and possible general manager will be fired and this team will have no interest in making this a lively game.
Want more evidence of the decline? Vegas wise guys attacked this line the minute that the Raiders beat the Chiefs. They say the loss by the Bolts and knew that they were not going to come back to play again this season.
The line opened with the Chargers as a small favorite but the line leaped to the Raiders as a three point favorite and only 40% of the public is on the Raiders. That means that this line moved specifically on the wise guy big money that is flying in on this game.
Head coach Hue Jackson is still working with Carson Palmer on protecting the football and proper game planning because this is a very important game for the silver and black. The Chargers have cashed it in for the season and the Raiders are the lock of the week.
