NCAA Men’s Basketball Betting Previews- No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Pointspread: North Carolina
Total Line: OFF
The North Carolina Tar Heels will look to move to 6-1 in the ACC when they go on the road this Tuesday night to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The tip-off is slated for 9 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
North Carolina notched its fifth conference win this past Sunday with a 93-81 victory over Georgia Tech, but came nowhere close to covering as a 20.5-point home favorite. The Tar Heels are now 18-3 straight-up on the year and 11-9 against the spread. They are 4-3 both SU and ATS on the road and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of the seven games.
The Tar Heels continue to lead the nation in scoring, with an average of 84.9 points a game and rebounds, with 45.9 a game. They are shooting 48 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from three-point range.
Wake Forest finds itself in a mid-season slide it would rather forget with just two victories in its last eight games. It is now 11-10 SU on the year and 9-8-1 ATS. The Demon Deacons are 7-4 SU at home this season, but just 3-6 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of the nine games.
Scoring has been a major issue for Wake Forest, with an average of just 66.9 points a game. It has been held to 60 or less points in five of its last eight games. The Demon Deacons are ranked near the bottom of Division I in rebounds with just 33 a game and shooting 43.3 percent from the floor.
The Tar Heels are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games on the road and the total has gone ‘over’ in four of the last five of these games.
The Demon Deacons are 1-4 ATS in their last five games at home and 3-13-2 ATS in their last 18 games following an ATS win. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last eight games overall.
Head-to-head in this series, the underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in the last three. Stick with North Carolina to win and cover as it is getting primed for the regular season stretch run, while the Demon Deacons are getting primed to ride out the string.
