NBA Betting Previews- Boston Celtics vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Pointspread: Oklahoma City
Total Line: OFF
The Boston Celtics will look to snap a four-game skid this Wednesday night when they square-off against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have won their last three. The tip-off from Chesapeake Energy Arena is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Boston’s recent losing streak reached four games with an 89-73 loss to Dallas this past Monday night as a 9.5-point road underdog. It was the Celtics’ sixth loss in their last seven games and third straight on the road. They are now 15-16 straight-up (13-18 against the spread) on the year and 4.5 games in back of Philadelphia in the Atlantic Division.
The Celtics have really struggled on the road this season with only four wins in 12 games and a 5-7 record ATS. To make matters worse, Rajon Rondo remains out of the lineup while serving a two-game suspension and Kevin Garnett and Jermaine O’Neal are both listed as questionable for Wednesday night.
Oklahoma City continues to roll with the best record in the Western Conference at 25-7 SU (17-15 ATS). The Thunder have been almost unbeatable at home at 13-1 SU, but they are just 7-7 ATS. The total has gone an even 7-7 in the 14 games. They currently lead the Northwest Division by 7.5 games over Denver.
The ‘Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook Show’ took things to a whole new level in a recent 124-118 overtime victory over the Nuggets with a combined 91 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. Durant leads the team in scoring with 27.7 points a game with Westbrook chipping-in another 23.4 points for this dynamic duo.
The Celtics are 0-5 ATS in their last five games on the road and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against the West. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 15 of their last 25 games overall.
The Thunder are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Atlantic Division and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS loss. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 11 of their last 13 games against the East.
Boston is 4-1 ATS in its last five trips to Oklahoma City and the total has stayed ‘under’ in six of the last eight meetings overall. The first time these two met this season, the Thunder rolled to a 97-88 victory as 2.5-point road favorites. Things will only get worse this time around as Oklahoma City adds to the Celtics’ recent misery on the road.
