The Dallas Mavericks head back on the road this Thursday night to tangle with the Phoenix Suns in a Western Conference clash at the US Airways Center. The game is set to tip-off at 10:30 p.m. (ET) as the back-end of a NBA double-header on TNT.
Dallas took a break from its current four-game road trip to knock-off the New York Knicks 95-85 on Tuesday night as a 2.5-point home favorite. It started the trip with a 95-91 loss to Oklahoma City as a 6.5-point road underdog on Monday night.
The loss to the Thunder was the Mavericks fourth straight loss on the road. They are now 23-17 SU overall and 22-18 against the spread, but just 8-10 SU (10-8 ATS) in 18 road games. Dallas currently trails San Antonio by 3.5 games in the Southwest Division. During its four-game slide on the road, it has given-up an average of 98 points a game, which is well above its season average of 91.3 points a game.
Phoenix takes a break from an extended 10-game home stand to play the Thunder on the road on Wednesday night. The Suns are 5-1 both SU and ATS in the first six games of this home stand and now 17-20 SU and ATS overall. They trail the Los Angeles Clippers by 5.5 games in the Pacific Division.
Overall, the Suns are just 10-9 SU at home this season and 9-10 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 12 of the 19 games. They are averaging 94.5 points a game but have kicked-it up a notch with 100 or more points in four of their last six games. Phoenix has four players scoring in double figures led by Marcin Gortat’s 15.9 points a game.
The Mavericks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the West and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last eight games against the Pacific Division.
The Suns are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the West and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 10 of their last 12 games against the Southwest.
Head-to-head, Dallas is 8-0 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in its last five trips to the US Airways Center. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of the last six games in Phoenix. Stick with the Suns to continue to their recent success at home with the SU win. The Free NBA Pick: Phoenix 94 Dallas 91
