The Bruins are going to have to be quite careful over the course of the last month of the season. For the last three months, they have been the top team in the Northeast Division without a shadow of a doubt, but all of a sudden, the Ottawa Senators are starting to lurk. There was always a huge advantage in terms of games in hand, but now, there are just three points and two games of a difference. Still, Boston has 220 goals this year, which is more than anyone else in the Eastern Conference, and the 159 goals allowed thanks to Tim Thomas is one of the better marks as well. The offense is starting to get the job done once again for the boys from Beantown, knowing that it has scored at least three goals in four straight games. However, thanks to the terrible goaltending that the team has had over the last few games, there are just four points to show for those efforts. We could see Marty Turco in this one, and he is the new backup net minder with Tuukka Rask still on the shelf.

The Penguins are going the right direction right now, and just as the Bruins are starting to feel the heat from the Sens, the New York Rangers are starting to get some heat from the boys in black and gold. What was once a double digit point lead for the boys from the Big Apple is down to just four, and with Sidney Crosby coming back into the lineup some time in the near future (though it won’t be Sunday), matters are definitely going to be hairy down the stretch. Pittsburgh has picked up eight straight wins, six of which have come in regulation. Three are some big time romps in here as well, including an 8-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning and a 5-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Evgeni Malkin needs just two more goals to get to the 40/40 plateau for the season. He has 81 points this year to lead the league, but he would be nothing without James Neal, who is also a 30/30 guy with 30 goals and 32 assists.

Boston Bruins @ Pittsburgh Penguins Pick: The Penguins are a great team on a roll, and especially with home ice advantage in this one, we just don’t see how this winning streak is going to stop here. Boston just doesn’t have the horses to get the job done in all likelihood with the way that it has been playing.
