The Predators are basically playing with house money in this one. They were able to go on the road on Sunday afternoon and sneak out of Joe Louis Arena with a victory, making up for the fact that they were beaten at Bridgestone Arena just about 40 hours before that to fall into a big time hole in this series. Shea Weber was able to find the back of the net for the second time in this series when he opened the scoring on the power play in Game 3. He also did a fantastic job helping out a defense that looked like it was going to get run off of the ice in the latter periods with the furious comeback that Detroit put on. Pekka Rinne deserves a lot of credit for standing up to the Detroit attack, as he has faced just a slew of shots in this series, including 19 in the third period of Game 3. The Preds would love to get some of the pressure off of Rinne, but this is a man that has done the job all season long with this team, and he is one of the most trustworthy net minders that these playoffs have to offer.
Meanwhile, the air really has come out of the sails of the Red Wings at this point. They found a way to scratch and claw their way to a road victory two nights prior, and they had to think that they were going to be able to come away with two wins at home to put all of the pressure back of the Predators. Instead, it is now Detroit that is in trouble once again, and this might be a must win type of game. The offense has just seven goals in this series, which isn’t going to cut it. Jimmy Howard has to play better than he did in Game 3 as well. The three goals allowed wasn’t the end of the world, but the fact of the matter is that he stopped just three of the four shots that he faced in the third period and had just 22 shots against for the whole game. That isn’t going to cut it to say the least. It would also be nice to see some of these other consistent players step it up for the Wings. Only Pavel Datsyuk, Tomas Holmstrom, and Henrik Zetterberg have more than one point in the series, and Zetterberg is the only one with more than one goal.
Nashville Predators @ Detroit Red Wings Pick: In the end, we just have to think that Detroit is going to get this game. Sure, it’s a lot of pressure, but this is a team that knows what it takes to win games in the clutch. We have seen three straight 3-2 games now to start off this series, and there’s no reason to think that we are going to see anything different than that in this one.
