NBA Betting Previews- San Antonio Spurs vs Los Angeles Lakers
Point spread: Los Angeles -1.5
Total Line: 196
The San Antonio Spurs will look to avenge last week’s double-digit loss at home to the Los Angeles Lakers when the two meet again this Tuesday night at the Staples Center. The game is set to tip-off at 10:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on TNT.
This will actually be Game 2 of current three-game mini-series between these two teams given the fact they will meet again this Friday. San Antonio was embarrassed last Wednesday in a 98-84 loss to the Lakers as a 10-point home favorite, but rebounded with victories over Memphis and Phoenix over the weekend. The Spurs are now 42-16 straight-up and 35-20-3 against the spread on the year. They are 17-11 SU (14-12-2 ATS) on the road and the total has gone ‘over’ in 19 of the 28 games heading into Monday night’s road game against Golden State.
Led by veterans Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, San Antonio remains one of the highest scoring teams in the league with an average of 103.1 points a game. They also have one of the highest shooting percentages from the floor (47.2 percent) and from three-point range (38.9 percent) in the NBA.
Los Angeles is prepping for the playoffs with a four-game winning streak and 8-2 SU (4-6 ATS) record in its last 10 games. It is now 39-22 SU on the year but a costly 26-35 ATS. The Lakers are 25-6 SU at home and 15-16 ATS. The total has gone 16-15 in those 31 games.
What makes LA’s current winning streak even more impressive is the fact that Kobe Bryant has been out of the lineup for five games with a shin injury. He remains doubtful for this game as he continues to recover. The rest of the team has been able to pick-up the slack with an average of 101.5 points in the last four games, which is well above its season-scoring average of 97.1 points a game.
The Spurs are 6-2-2 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a SU winning record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games. The total has gone ‘over’ in 11 of their last 14 games on the road.
The Lakers are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games at home and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in 16 of their last 23 games overall.
Head-to-head, San Antonio is 4-10 ATS in the last 14 meetings and 2-5 ATS in their last seven trips to the Staples Center. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 20 of the last 26 games overall.
The recent series trends do not favor it, nor does the Spurs having to play their third game in four nights, but stick with them to win this game SU with Bryant still out of the picture. The Free NBA Pick: San Antonio 96 Los Angeles 92
