Reds and Braves battle it out at Turner Field

The Cincinnati Reds and the Atlanta Braves will play the back-end of a quick two-game set this Tuesday night at Turner Field in a showdown of two of the better teams in the National League. The game is set to get underway at 7:10 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on the MLB Network.

Cincinnati continues to chase St. Louis for the lead in the NL Central but is just 2-3 in its last five games heading into Monday’s clash with the Braves. The Reds are 2.5 games back with an overall record of 17-16. They are 9-8 at home and an even 8-8 on the road. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of their last eight games and is 14-18-1 on the year.

Johnny Cueto is slated to get the start for Cincinnati on Tuesday night. The right-hander is a perfect 4-0 on the year with an ERA of just 1.12. He has not allowed a run in his last 16 innings pitched and has posted six quality starts in seven chances this year. Cueto is 1-1 with a 3.08 ERA against the Braves.

Atlanta’s impressive three-game sweep of the Cardinals over the weekend has it a half-game up in the NL East with an overall record of 22-13. The Braves are currently 14-8 on the road and 8-5 at home. The total went ‘over’ in all three games against St. Louis as Atlanta belted-out a total of 23 runs. The total has gone 19-14-2 on the year.

Tim Hudson is expected to be on the mound in this one. He is coming off a tough 1-0 loss to Chicago in which he pitched six scoreless innings before yielding a run in the seventh. Overall, the right-hander is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts. Lifetime against Cincinnati, he is 3-1 with an ERA of 3.19.
