NBA Betting Game Trends

NBA betting action in the NBA Finals continues on Sunday night after a couple days off with the pivotal Game 3 of this series. The Oklahoma City Thunder know that they have to win at least one of these next three games on the road against the Miami Heat to keep their season alive, and they’ll get their first shot on Sunday.

Oklahoma City has to be kicking itself for letting Game 2 get away from it. It was the first loss that the team suffered at home in these playoffs, and it was a game that the squad might very well rue come the end of this series. The difference between Game 1 and Game 2 though, was the way that the role players played for the Thunder. We always know that night in and night out, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant are going to be doing their thing. And, true to form, Durant scored 32, Westbrook had 27 with seven assists and eight boards, and Harden scored 21. That being said, the rest of the team was relatively MIA in the outcome. Serge Ibaka did block five shots, but he only had four boards and seven points. Thabo Sefolosha, who has had some great moments in these playoffs, had just three points on 1-of-5 shooting. Nick Collison didn’t even attempt a shot. Derek Fisher had just two points and no assists in 24 minutes. Kendrick Perkins scored just four points. And that was it. No one else even played for Oklahoma City.

And the argument could be made that the reason that the Heat won Game 2 was because their role players outperformed those of Oklahoma City in a rare twist from the expected in this series. Shane Battier had his second straight big time game, putting up 17 points, including knocking down 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. That was more than enough to give the Heat control. Chris Bosh played 41 minutes and looks as healthy as he is going to get. He had a nice game, accounting for 16 points and 15 boards, making him the only player that had a double-double on the evening. Dwyane Wade knocked down 10-of-20 shots from the floor and had 24 points. However, the hero was LeBron James. Just two nights after scoring a career high for the NBA Finals with 30 points, he bested that by scoring 32, including hitting all 12 of his foul shots, many of which came down the stretch to help close out the game.

Back in South Beach, we know that the Heat are a beatable team. We saw the Boston Celtics do it, and we have seen the Indiana Pacers do it. We wouldn’t be all that shocked if this turns out to be another nail biting close game, and if that turns out to be the case, we know that we are going to want the Thunder and those four points on our side.
