NCAA Football – Week 3
Six digits worth of fans will be screaming Rocky Top at the tops of their lungs on Saturday night for college football betting action, as the Tennessee Volunteers take on their arch rivals, the Florida Gators.
Head Coach Will Muschamp is clearly going to be in for a challenge this week, and he knows that these are the types of games that he has to win if he wants to keep his job intact. The Gators just weren’t good in the SEC last year, especially on the road, but at least he was able to pick up that win last week against the Texas A&M Aggies in what amounted to be a brutally tough challenge. There are a number of Florida players that are dinged up or will be forced to sit this one out, and that could mean that QB Jeff Driskel has to make some plays. Driskel really hasn’t done a heck of a lot of that this year, as his offense has just 47 points in two games against suspect defenses. In fact, if not for the play of this ‘D’, especially in the second half against both Bowling Green and A&M, the Gators could arguably be 0-2 coming into this game and not 2-0.
Tennessee hasn’t won a game in this series since 2004, and the time is here for the boys from Rocky Top to get back in the saddle. Head Coach Derek Dooley has even more problems that Muschamp does. We know that Muschamp, as long as he gets his team to a bowl game this year, will have no problems coming back for a third season. Dooley has had his time in Knoxville, and he hasn’t had a year in which his Volunteers have been relevant in the SEC East quite yet. This might be his best chance to get the job done. QB Tyler Bray is quietly turning into one of the best quarterbacks that the SEC has to offer, and that’s saying something considering how competitive this conference really is. That being said, the big boys haven’t been on the schedule yet, and wins over Georgia State and NC State won’t resonate the same way that a win over Florida would.
Prediction:
Florida seems to be the sharp play in this game, and that’s the way that we’re going to go. We don’t know how the boys from the Swamp are going to get the job done, but all of these wins over Tennessee haven’t come on accident. Last year, the Gators really blew the Vols out of the water, but some late scores were all that made the game close. The Florida defense held Tennessee to -9 yards on the ground, and we might be seeing something similar this time as well. Florida 20 – Tennessee 10
