Clemson moved to No.10 in the rankings with a 3-0 straight-up start that includes a 26-19 victory over Auburn on opening day as a two-point road favorite. Last Saturday, the Tigers rolled over Division IAA Furman 41-7 but could not cover as 39.5-point favorites at home.

Balance has been the key to Clemson’s offensive attack with an average of 298 yards per game through the air and another 219.3 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Tajh Boyd is off to a strong start with a 73.3 completion percentage that has produced 747 yards and six touchdowns. The running game has been led by Andre Ellington, who is averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He has already racked-up 328 yards and four touchdowns.

Florida State came into this season touted as one of the top teams in the nation and so far it has backed that up on the field. While the level of competition has not been the strongest through the first three weeks, the Seminoles have completely dominated so far by outscoring their opponents 176-3. This includes a 52-0 shutout of Wake Forest this past Saturday in their ACC opener. Florida State closed as a 28-point home favorite against the Demon Deacons.

The only way to describe Jimbo Fisher’s team so far is a complete package on both sides of the ball. EJ Manual has led the way through the air with 525 yards passing and six touchdown strikes. Running backs Chris Thompson and James Wilder Jr. have already combined for 474 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. Throw in a defense that has given up a field goal in 12 quarters of action and you have the makings of a national championship team. The only question that remains is how will this team perform against a higher level of competition and that will be answered on Saturday night.

Prediction:

While two touchdowns is an awful lot of points to give up in a conference rivalry game against a quality opponent, this game presents the perfect opportunity for the Seminoles to prove that they are a legitimate threat to win it all this year.
