Game Overview
QB Robert Griffin III is going to be making his debut in front of his hometown fans at FedEx Field in NFL betting action this week for his Washington Redskins when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
Last year, Cincinnati went 9-0 against teams that didn’t get into the playoffs and 0-8 against teams that did, including a first round loss to the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium. This year, that appears to be holding serve, as the Bengals beat the Cleveland Browns (not going to the playoffs) and lost to the Baltimore Ravens (probably will go to the playoffs). QB Andy Dalton looks like a man that has really taken some steps in the right direction from his rookie year to his sophomore year. He has thrown for 539 yards and three scores in two games, but more importantly, he is completing 67.6 percent of his passes and has a QB rating of 93.9. WR AJ Green is due for a big time game. He has 128 yards and 12 receptions with a touchdown, but he has yet to have a catch this year go for even 20 yards. Defensively, this is a team that is a lot better than its numbers suggest this year.
But of course, the story of this game is RG3. Griffin has been a monster this year, throwing for 526 yards and three TDs and rushing for 124 yards and two more scores. He has completed 70.9 percent of his passes, and he has one of the highest quarterback ratings in the league at 111.6. RB Alfred Morris has 44 carries this year, which is very unlikely something that Head Coach Mike Shanahan would be allowing a running back to do. The former Florida Atlantic Owl though, has 185 yards and two trips to the end zone. WR Pierre Garcon hopes to get back in the lineup this week after missing last week’s loss to the St. Louis Rams. That’s good news for a team that doesn’t have a man with more than six reception. Remember that Garcon had four catches in the first half against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 before getting hurt. Garcon would step back into the lineup in place of WR Josh Morgan almost for sure, knowing that he is in the doghouse after committing the 15-yard penalty that likely cost the Redskins a 2-0 start to the season.
Prediction
The Skins might finally be the exception to the rule, but we aren’t going to go against it. Odds have it, Washington won’t get into the playoffs, and that means that the Bengals should be winning this game. Cincinnati is being underrated here, and we think that this is still a team that has the defense to be able to shut down the phenomenon known as RG3. Cincinnati 23 – Washington 21
