NFL Consensus Report Week 4: Established Teams
The NFL is having one of its most exciting seasons to dates. Controversial plays, replacement referees and surprise teams headline a season that has been full of unexpected twists and turns. One thing that has been consistent is the consensus report. Since week 1 a quick-look at the public betting percentages has provided an open window to who the public is betting and what teams to avoid.
A perfect example of this was the 75 percent of betting people who backed the Green Bay Packers in the Monday night game against the Seattle Seahawks. According to reports out of Vegas an estimated 300 million dollars switched hands on that one play and anyone who had Green Bay is still smarting from the loss.
The public tends to jump on popular teams or teams that are off a big win and have proven they can win early in the season. These established teams get plenty of wagering action. In week 5 of the NFL one team is starting to join the established team lists after spending years in the basement alongside the bad teams. That team is the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals did not get enough attention after upsetting the New England Patriots as double-digit underdogs but after beating the Philadelphia Eagles a week ago, the public is starting to warm up to them. However that could be a big mistake.
The Cardinals are one of the most popular favorites taking action this week as over 70 percent of the betting public is taking the birds to cover the 6.5 points against the Miami Dolphins. A few things should be noted about this game.
The Cardinals should have some letdown after beating two very good teams and now hosting an out fo conference opponent in the Miami Dolphins. It also should be noted that the Cardinals are asking to cover points this week after getting them the last couple of weeks. Because of that, the Cardinals are actually a fade in week five and should be avoided.
