College Football Strategies: Physical Play Takes a Toll

The game of football is very physical and every week teams gear up and take a beating when they hit the field. These games after a while will take a toll on a team on the players as the season gets longer. This is cause for concerns for some teams depending on whom they played and who they will face in the following week.

The college football season is nearly at its halfway point but there are several teams who should be concerned with the games this week.

The LSU Tigers and the Florida Gators played in week five and not only was it one of the biggest games of the week but it was a very physical game. Both teams hammered it out at the line of scrimmage giving it their all and playing physical football. This defensive effort by both teams will take its tolls and both teams could be in trouble this week.

The LSU Tigers are hosting the South Carolina Gamecocks in the biggest game on the SEC schedule. The Tigers have shown that they struggle against the spread after a game that the defense played a big role. The Tigers are 1-4 against the spread (ATS0 in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game.

Going against South Carolina the Tigers could easily be worn out. The Florida Gators are facing the Vanderbilt Commodores this week. This hurts this team in two ways. The Gators are off the physical game against the Tigers and they play South Carolina next week so it sets up a perfect trap game.

The Gators and the Tigers should be watched this week for some letdown after a very physical game a week ago.
