College Consensus Report: Top 25 teams Top the Board
The College consensus report featuring the top games on the schedule for week 7 is a useful tool for handicapping all the great games. As expected the top games are very popular to bet on which provides a good barometer of where the public is betting for the upcoming weekend.
West Virginia jumped into the national spotlight with back-to-back big wins against Baylor and Texas and this weekend are just slim four point road chalk over Texas Tech. That low number has drawn plenty of public attention as the Mountaineers are collecting 76 percent of the public betting action, which is the highest total for any road team in college football.
West Virginia is closely followed by top-ranked Kansas State who is just under a touchdown favorite on the road against Iowa State. The Cyclones have played great football but that has not stopped the public from betting on the Wildcats at a 69 percent clip this week. Other games featuring Top 25 teams in college football are getting more even action.
In the top battle in the SEC the LSU Tigers host the South Carolina Gamecocks after a loss on the road to the Florida Gators. LSU is 2.5 point favorites over Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks, but not many of the public bettors believe the Tigers will rebound.
The majority of the public, albeit a slim margin, (54 percent) is backing the Gamecocks. This is most likely due to the big win the Gamecocks had a week ago against the Georgia Bulldogs. It has yet to be seen if that momentum will carry over or if a change of venue will make a difference.
