NCAA Football – Week 7
Teams that are evolving into arch rivals in the Pac-12 are going to meet for some NCAA football betting action on Saturday night on FOX, when the Washington Huskies welcome to town the USC Trojans.
Oh, the ironies in this game for the Men of Troy. They are on the road against their former coordinator, Steve Sarkisian, and they are playing in the very same building that their old coach, Pete Carroll is now coaching in on a regular basis for the Seattle Seahawks. There is still an opportunity to get back into the National Championship picture in spite of the loss on the road to the Stanford Cardinal a few weeks ago, but USC knows that it is going to be tough. The offense just doesn’t feel like it is clicking on all cylinders, and this Washington defense does have the ability to stymy this unit. QB Matt Barkley has to step up and throw the ball like the man that is expected to be the top overall pick in the NFL Draft this coming year, and he has to get help from his receivers like WR Marqise Lee and Robert Woods, both of which have underachieved. This ‘O’ should be averaging a heck of a lot more than 424 yards and 34.0 points per game, knowing that there are a slew of NFLers that are out there on a weekly basis.
The Huskies can’t throw it, they can’t run it, and they can’t block all that well, and that’s why they have ultimately fallen twice this year after cracking into the Top 25 a few weeks ago. In fairness, we know that the schedule has already seen the Oregon Ducks and LSU Tigers on it, and this isn’t exactly a walk in the park either. Still, QB Keith Price just has to be better than he has been, and he needs a heck of a lot of help. Price has completed just 59.5 percent of his passes for 882 yards with five TDs and four picks. RB Bishop Sankey is the team’s leading rusher with 433 yards and a team-high six trips to the end zone. Receivers though, are nowhere to be found. WR Kasen Williams and WR Austin Seferian-Jenkins have combined for 55 receptions. No one else on the team has more than seven, and the rest of the squad combined has just 42 catches.
Prediction:
Though we would love to think that the Huskies could pull off the upset in this game, we know better. The Trojans have already been beaten in this series twice over the course of the last three years, and with as much as this team has basically sleepwalked through the season, perhaps last week’s string of upsets parlayed with a long week of preparation for this one could be just what the doctor ordered for a blowout in Seattle. USC 38 – Washington 20
