Game Overview

Kansas State comes into this huge conference showdown as the highest ranked team in the Big 12. The Wildcats are a perfect 6-0 straight-up this season and a profitable 4-1-1 against the spread. This includes an impressive 24-19 victory over then-No.6 Oklahoma in Week 4 as 15.5-point underdogs on the road. The total has gone OVER in three of their last five games.

The Wildcats continue to get it done on offense by running the ball down their opponent’s throat. They are ranked 11th in the nation in rushing with an average of 248.5 yards a game. Collin Klein has been a duel threat at quarterback with 1,074 yards passing and 510 yards running the ball, but John Hubert remains the team’s leading rusher with 606 yards on 98 carries. Look for a heavy dose of both these players in this game.

West Virginia was on the top of the world heading into last week’s contest against Texas Tech, but it all came crashing down in a very disappointing 49-14 loss as a three-point road favorite. The Mountaineers are still 5-1 SU (2-4 ATS) and very much in the Big 12 title race, but any hopes of a shot at playing for a BCS title are most likely gone.

What made last Saturday’s loss so hard to understand was how easily the Red Raiders shutdown an offense that was averaging over 50 points a game. The Mountaineers ran-up 70 points against Baylor and 48 points against Texas in two previous conference games, but could not get its high-flying aerial attack off the ground. If they are going to have any chance to take down the Wildcats, then quarterback Geno Smith and the West Virginia offense is going to have to quickly get this loss out of its system and get back to what led to the 5-0 start. It is fairly obvious that it will not be able to beat Kansas State with its defense.

Prediction:

Morgantown is always a tough place to get a win, but especially against a West Virginia team that is coming off one of its worst beatings in recent memory. Look for Smith and Co. to get the passing game back on track to pull-out a tight victory that covers the three points at home. West Virginia 33 Kansas State 28
