Game Overview

The NFL takes its annual trek to Jolly Old England on Sunday afternoon at Wembley Stadium, and NFL betting fans won’t want to miss the duel here between the New England Patriots and the St. Louis Rams.

The Patriots are actually the only team in the AFC to ever win a game off of American soil in the NFL regular season. They did that just a few years back, and now they are back make English soil Patriot land once again. QB Tom Brady is one of the biggest stars that will be in the country, and that’s saying something knowing just how many soccer heroes that there are in England. As far as the team itself, there are clearly some flaws. New England was probably unlucky to lose to the Seattle Seahawks, but it was very lucky to survive against the New York Jets. Those looking at the glass half full could say that in spite of the fact that they have just a 4-3 record, the Pats’ three losses have come by a combined four points. However, it’s not like the team has always been impressive, especially defensively, even in wins. The Brady Bunch is averaging the most yards per game in the league with 436.1, and without every last one of those yards, this could be a 3-4 team that is on the wrong side of the playoffs as we speak.

The Rams are still in the fringes of the NFC playoff picture, and a win over a great team like this would go a long, long way towards keeping them alive this year. However, when push comes to shove, the talent just isn’t quite there yet to do anything but grow. QB Sam Bradford is really under the gun after throwing for just 1,592 yards and seven TDs against six picks in seven games. Those numbers really should be improving, especially this deep into his career, and the time is coming that the team is going to have to consider making someone else the face of its franchise. Of course, it would really help if Bradford had any help whatsoever at the receiver position. WR Danny Amendola is out for the foreseeable future, and he has only played in five games on the campaign. He’s still the team’s leading receiver. The offensive line has been in shambles as well, so perhaps it isn’t Bradford, but the rest of the pieces that are around him that are truly lacking.

Prediction

The Patriots have won three in a row and covered three of the last four in this series, but this is still a bit of a donkey play. We’ll take the points and hope that Bradford and the Rams can keep up the same way that QB Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets did last week. New England 28 – St. Louis 24
