NCAA Football – Week 11
Two of the top teams in the MAC are going to be involved in a great Tuesday night college football betting battle this week when the Ball State Cardinals take on the Toledo Rockets.
The MAC has a history of just not getting all that many teams in bowl games. This year is going to be an exception to that thanks to the fact that North Carolina, Ohio State, and Penn State are all ineligible for bowl games, but there will still be at least one, and perhaps more MAC teams that get left home from the second season that are eligible. Ball State is one of these teams that could be left on the outside, and with a schedule featuring three of the best teams in the MAC this year remaining on the slate, there is a real chance that this team could finish up at 6-6 and not end up in a bowl. This defense is terrible, but the offense really has the ability to put some points up. QB Keith Wenning is averaging throwing the ball 40.4 times per game, and the team is averaging 83.4 snaps per game. Wenning has thrown for 2,425 yards and 17 TDs against seven picks. RB Jahwan Edwards has 949 yards and nine scores, while WR Willie Snead and WR Jamill Smith both have at least 60 receptions on the campaign.
Toledo is hanging onto slight hopes for the BCS now that it is in the Top 25, but it is going to need a heck of a run at the end of the campaign to get into the Top 16 and have a chance of being in the biggest bowl games of the campaign. QB Terrance Owens has thrown for 2,201 yards and rushed for 264 more, but the real stars of the show are RB David Fluellen, WR Bernard Reedy, and WR Alonzo Russell. Fluellen is one of the top rushers in the nation, coming up with 1,177 yards and 11 scores, and he is also the third leading receiver on the team. Owens works the ball to Reedy and Russell all the time as well, as these two have combined for 1,536 yards and eight of the 13 passing touchdowns that the squad has on the campaign. The Rockets only have one loss this year, and that came in overtime to an Arizona Wildcats squad that has been in and out of the Top 25 all year long, so don’t think that this isn’t a team that can’t get the job done if given the chance.
Prediction:
There are going to be just a ton of points in this game, and everyone knows it. In the end though, home field advantage at the Glass Bowl is always second to none, and while this point spread is still below a touchdown, we are clearly going to jump on. Toledo 38 – Ball State 28
