NFL Injuries Week 10: Reviewing the Bumps and Bruises
The NFL injury list should be the first place that a handicapper visits when looking for winners on any given week. Injuries can change the face of a team and adjust the betting odds.
Here is a look at a few of the key players that are banged up heading into week 10 that could change the betting odds, and reveal winners.
QB Tony Romo – Romo suffered a back strain on the final play of the game against the Atlanta Falcons, but he insisted he was fine. ‘I tweaked it a little bit on the last play,’ Romo said. ‘I’ll be alright. I just strained it.’ Romo was spotted walking gingerly to the team bus after the game – he’ll be evaluated further on Monday.
Just because Romo will play does not mean he is going to make it through the game, so Cowboys backers should be worried.
RB Darren McFadden – McFadden injured his ankle during the game on Sunday, and he had an X-ray examination that didn’t reveal a break. ‘He’s got an ankle. I’m not sure the extent of it,’ head coach Dennis Allen said after the game. McFadden will be evaluated further on Monday – early indications are this could be a high ankle sprain, which would keep McFadden out an extended period.
The Raiders would be in trouble without a running game against the blitz-heavy Ravens.
WR Percy Harvin – Harvin tweaked his left ankle during the game on Sunday, but after treatment from the trainers he returned to the action. Harvin will be evaluated further on Monday. Harvin underwent an MRI on the ankle Monday and it did not show any fractures.
Head coach Leslie Frazier said he hopes Harvin will be able to play Week 10. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Harvin was on crutches Monday and Harvin “told reporters he’s a ‘long shot’ to play Sunday vs. Detroit.”
The Vikings without Harvin will be missing a serious playmaker. Keep an eye on the injury report as the week unfolds to find winners for Week 10 in the NFL.
