The Clippers have become the toast of the town in LA with eight straight-up victories in their first 10 games. They have also become one of the favorites of the betting public with a profitable 8-2 start against the spread. Los Angeles’ 92-87 win over San Antonio this past Monday night as a 4.5-point road underdog extended its current winning streak to six games and raised its road record this season to 3-0 both SU and ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in five of its last six games.
The addition of Chris Paul before the 2011/2012 season made the Clippers a contender in the Western Conference for the first time in franchise history. This year’s roster, which now includes Jamal Crawford and Lamar Odom off the bench, makes them one of the top teams in the NBA. They are ranked third in the league in scoring with 101.5 points a game and seventh in points allowed; giving-up an average of 92.6 points a game. With a combination like that it is easy to see why.
Oklahoma City is also off to a strong start with an 8-3 SU record and a 6-4-1 record ATS. The total has gone OVER in its last three games. This past Sunday the Thunder beat Golden State 119-109 as 9.5-point home favorites to run their record at the Chesapeake Energy Center to 5-2 SU (4-3 ATS).
The scoring duo of Kevin Durant and Michael Westbrook continues to be at the top of its game with a combined 45 points a game. Durant also leads the team in rebounds with 10.5 a game while Westbrook leads in assists with 8.4. An added plus this season has been the play of Kevin Martin off the bench. One of the newest additions to the team is averaging 17.6 points in just under 30 minutes of playing time. Overall, the Thunder are the second-highest scoring team in the NBA with 101.7 points a game while shooting 48.2 percent from the floor and 43.5 percent from three-point range.
Prediction:
If you like fast-pace, high-scoring basketball then this matchup is as good as it gets in the NBA. The Clippers have been perfect of the road this season while the Thunder defend their home court as well as any team in the league. Look for this game to stay much closer than the current five-point spread with Los Angeles covering with the points.
Oklahoma City 104 Los Angeles 101
