NFL Lock Of the Week: Buccaneers Clip the Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are one of the best teams in the NFL, but they have had their struggles of late. Meanwhile the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are slowly putting together a great season and winning football with a strong running game and safe quarterback play.
This week Matt Ryan will try and have a much better game after tossing five interceptions in a come-from-behind win against the Arizona Cardinals. It won’t be easy against a Buccaneers team that is 7-3 ATS in the last ten games against the Dirty Birds.
The Falcons need a big win against a better team in the league. The Falcons have struggled against lesser opponents as they barely beat the Cardinals and they squeaked by the Oakland Raiders in an earlier matchup. Now they need to beat the Bucs to stay atop the suddenly crowded division.
Josh Freeman is paying much better at quarterback and it helps that they now have a running game in rookie Doug Martin and a go-to-guy in Vincent Jackson.
The Buccaneers are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games after accumulating more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 12, and 5-2 ATS in the last seven games against the NFC.
The Falcons are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 250 total yards in their previous game and 2-5 against the number when playing a team with a winning record.
The Bucs are on a roll right now and they are playing great football. The entire team is believing in the concept that they can win against some fo the best teams in the league and make the NFL playoffs.
