NFL Lock of the Week 13: Green Bay Packers Pummel the Minnesota Vikings

The Green Bay Packers go up against the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC divisional battle in week 13 and out of that game comes the NFL Lock of the Week. The Packers and the Vikings both took humiliating losses a week ago and both took hits to their post season chances.

When this line opened up it is easy to take the Vikings. The opening NFL betting line suggested that the Packers were -9.5 point favorites over the Vikings. This is hard to believe considering how bad the Packers looked against the Giants. Aaron Rodgers spent most of the game on his back and discussed afterwards how much his team needs to improve if they want to have a shot at making the playoffs.

The Vikings and their defense should be licking their chops in this big game, but its the offense that is an area of concern. Wide receiver Percy Harvin is hurt again and will miss this game. Quarterback Christian Ponder has turned to tight end Kyle Rudolph with Harvin out of the lineup. The problem with this week is that Rudolph is suffering from a concussion. He is cleared to play but one more hit could doom this team.

Meanwhile the Packers will get wide receiver Greg Jennings back in the lineup. This will allow Rodgers to offset the pass rush with quick outs to his wide outs and open up this game.

The Vikings are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss of more than 14 points and 4-12-3 ATS when playing a team with a winning record. The Packers are 46-22-2 ATS in their last 70 games following a loss of more than 14 points and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a loss.

This may be a lot of points, but the Packers will cover this number in a big win as they are the lock of the week.
