NCAA Basketball Pick – December 8th
The Duke Blue Devils and the Temple Owls will head to the Izod Center in East Rutherford for a college basketball betting battle on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls know that they are going to have to be giant killers in this game, but they have the potential to really do some damage. They’re a 6-0 team, and the only club that has given them any sort of a challenge whatsoever is the Delaware Blue Hens, who came to the City of Brotherly Love and lost 80-75. This is a much different challenge for Head Coach Fran Dunphy and his Owls though, as they are going to be up against it and expected to lose for the first time on the campaign. F Scootie Randall has played a whopping 35.5 minutes per game this year, and he has the numbers to prove it. He’s the team’s leading scorer at 16.7 points per game and the leading rebounder at 7.2 boards per night. G Khalif Wyatt has averaged 15.2 points per game and is shooting 38.9 percent from beyond the arc. The defense is allowing just 61.0 points per game on the campaign as well.
The Dookies are still perfect this year, and they have played a heck of a schedule as well. Not only is there a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes, but victories over the Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals as well. No team in America has been more impressive than this one. F Mason Plumlee is a double-double man this year, picking up 19.6 points and 11.0 boards per game, and he is also good for just about two blocks per game as well. G Seth Curry averaged 15.1 points per game, while F Ryan Kelly, G Rasheed Sulaimon, and G Quinn Cook are all double digit point scorers as well. The bench is weak for sure, but it really isn’t given all that much of a chance, knowing that all five starters are averaging at least 30 minutes per game. If the Blue Devils keep this up, they are going to be a Final Four competitor this year for sure.
Prediction:
This is a series that had been dominated by the Dookies over the years before last year’s 78-73 win for Temple. However, this isn’t a great spot for an overrated and overmatched set of Owls, and they’ll go back to being the team that is nothing more than another bump in the road for the Blue Devils. Duke 82 – Temple 65
