NBA – March 1st
If you like points, you’ve most certainly come to the right place. Two of the most high-flying teams in the NBA betting world, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets are set to do battle for the third time this year, and we’ve got all of the action for this Friday night fight covered.
In one corner, we have the Thunder, who have one of the top records in the Western Conference at 42-15. They’re leading the Northwest Division by six games, making it a foregone conclusion that they are going to be one of the top seeds in the Western Conference playoffs, and they are hoping to nail down the top slot in the conference when push comes to shove. The way that Oklahoma City plays, it’s tough to keep up. There are only two men that you always have to worry about in F Kevin Durant and G Russell Westbrook, as these two men are combining for over 52 points per game. G Kevin Martin and F Serge Ibaka would both be top contributors on other teams as well, though neither puts together the type of production that Westbrook and Durant do on a night in, night out basis. This is also a great shooting team in general, regardless of where that is on the floor, and that makes the Thunder so difficult to try to keep up with.
In the other corner, we have the Nuggets, who are stuck in the Northwest Division behind Oklahoma City. Denver would be 2.5 games up in the Atlantic Division and tied for the lead in the Central Division, but here in the Western Conference, it is only good for a No. 5 seed right now. The trick is going to be running down the Memphis Grizzlies, who are 2.5 games in front of the Nuggets for that pivotal No. 4 slot. The Nuggets have scored at least 113 points in four straight games, and they have averaged over 106 points per game in the last month and a half. Few teams can run with this one, and we can only imagine how well this team would be faring if it could shoot even 70% from the charity stripe as a club. Alas, the Nuggs are still more concerned about the speed at which they play than anything else, and it shows. They have nine different players that are averaging at least 8.0 points per game, and Head Coach George Karl loves it. Why? Because when the team loses someone like F Danilo Gallinari, who has missed a few games in a row with a thigh injury, it isn’t the end of the team’s offensive output.
Prediction:
And that’s why this game is going to just fly past the ‘total’. Denver wants to push the pace all game long, and Oklahoma City is more than happy to make it a track meet. Defense is going to be optional for sure. The Thunder will probably eke out a crucial road win, but we are a heck of a lot more confident in both of these teams getting into the 110s than picking either side to win the game. Oklahoma City 118 – Denver 115
