NCAA Basketball Pick – March 10th
The Atlantic 10 title could be on the line on Sunday afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love, where the Temple Owls and VCU Rams engage in a huge clash on the NCAA basketball betting lines.
VCU knows that it is going to be dancing after starting off the year at 24-6 and 12-3 in conference play. If the La Salle Explorers knock off the Saint Louis Billikens this weekend, the Rams will win the outright A-10 title in their first season in the conference with a victory. A loss parlayed with a Saint Louis loss gives all three teams a share of the regular season title. The Rams are winners of three in a row, and they have beaten some of the big boys of the conference along the way. This is a stingy team that forces a ton of turnovers on a nightly basis, including over 12 steals per game. There’s a reason that this defense is simply known as HAVOC. On the other end of the court, the Rams are averaging 78.1 points per game, and a lot of that is because of the fact that they force so many turnovers and create easy baskets. Simply put, this is one of the most fun teams to watch in college basketball.
Temple is going to have to deal with this HAVOC for the full 40 minutes on Sunday, and this might be the determining factor as to whether it gets into the NCAA Tournament or not. This isn’t a must-win game quite yet, but we’re getting to that point for the Owls. They are one of the many teams that are fighting for those last few spots to get into the dance, and a win in this one would probably put them on the right side going into the A-10 Tournament next week. We would like to think that somewhere along the way, Temple is going to have to beat either Butler, La Salle, St. Louis, or VCU, and maybe two of the four to officially be locked into a spot on the dance floor. The team has won six in a row and has covered four of the six, and the offense has been out of this world as a result. In each of the last nine games, the Owls have scored at least 72 points, raising their scoring average up to 72.3 points per game.
Prediction:
This is going to be a barnburner. We think that both of these teams are going to go back and forth and come up with some big time plays. We fully expect to see both of these teams threatening to get into the 80s when push comes to shove, and that should be enough to get this one past the number. Don’t be shocked if this turns out to be an epic battle. Temple 81 – VCU 77
