This is the time of the year when the college basketball rankings can be thrown out the window. This is Championship week. This is the week that the conference championship tournaments take place with only one winner emerging as a champion and securing the bid for the NCAA tournament. With that being said here is a look at the top five teams in the Bang the Book.com college basketball rankings.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

The Gonzaga Bulldogs will maintain their top spot as the best team in the country. However they have to make sure they don’t fall flat in the WCC Conference tournament as a team like St. Mary’s is playing for their lives and their only chance they have to go to the big dance.

Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers proved once again why they have a very good chance of cutting down the nets in April. The come from behind win on the road against the Michigan Wolverines, is clear evidence that the Hoosiers are deserving of a top ranking.

Duke Blue Devils

The Duke Blue Devils are already in tournament mode. In what was supposed to a be a close rivalry game against the North Carolina Tar Heels, turned ugly quick when Duke took a double digit lead and never looked back. The Blue Devils sent a clear message that they are a team to be reckoned with in the tournament.

Georgetown Hoyas

The Georgetown Hoyas put an exclamation mark on the end of their Big East rivalry with the Syracuse Orange. The dominating win showed that the Hoyas have the depth and the defense to play with any team in the country.

Louisville Cardinals

With the Kansas Jayhawks losing to the Baylor Bears, the fifth spot was up for grabs and the Louisville Cardinals took advantage of it. The Cardinals dominated the game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and as defending champions of the Big East tournament; Rick Pitino has his team tournament ready.

Cole Ryan

Cole started off as a part time handicapper and a full time computer programmer.
