AFC Top Three Matchups – Week 7 Handicapping Report
AFC Top Three Matchups-Week 7 Handicapping Report
The Houston Texans finally fell from the ranks of the unbeaten and now join the Baltimore Ravens at the top of the AFC at 5-1. This situation is only temporary considering these two meet this upcoming Sunday afternoon at Reliant Stadium.
The following is a handicapping report for the top three matchups in the AFC this week with lines provided by 5Dimes.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans (-5.5) Total Line: 47.5
The Ravens only setback this season was a one-point loss to Philadelphia as three-point road underdogs in Week 2. They are 5-1 straight-up but just 2-4 against the spread. The total has stayed UNDER in two of their last three games. Houston is coming off a 42-24 pounding at the hands of Green Bay this past Sunday night as a 3.5-point home favorite. It is also 5-1 SU, but a healthy 4-2 ATS. The total has gone OVER in three of its last four games.
Baltimore has covered the spread in just one of its last five games, but it is 4-2 ATS in its last six games against the Texans. In fact, the Ravens’ SU winning streak in this series is five games including a 20-13 victory in last season’s Divisional Playoffs as 7.5-point home favorites. This followed a 29-14 win over Houston in the regular season as 6.5-point favorites at home. The total stayed UNDER in both of those games.
New York Jets vs. New England Patriots (-11.5) Total Line: 47
The Jets finally found some offense in their 35-9 romp over Indianapolis as 3.5-point home favorites this past Sunday. They are now 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS on the year. The Patriots’ stunning 24-23 loss on the road against Seattle on Sunday as four-point favorites dropped them to 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS. The total went OVER the 42.5-point line and has now gone OVER in their last four games.
New York is 5-15 SU in the last 20 games of this series and the total has gone OVER in the last five meetings. The Jets are 3-8 SU in their last 11 trips to Foxborough and 2-4 ATS in the last six meetings overall. The total has gone OVER in four of the last five games between the two that were played in New England.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-1) vs. Cincinnati Bengals Total Line: 46
The Steelers should be well-rested for this AFC North showdown after last Thursday’s stunning three-point loss to Tennessee as 5.5-point road favorites. The loss dropped them to 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS. Cincinnati fell to 3-3 SU (2-3-1 ATS) with a 34-24 loss to Cleveland this past Sunday as a 1.5-point road favorite. The total has now gone OVER in three of its last five games.
Pittsburgh has beaten the Bengals SU in nine of the last 11 meetings and is 10-1 SU in its last 11 trips to Cincinnati. The Bengals are only 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 games against the Steelers at home. The total has gone OVER in four of the last five games these two have played the there. Last season, Pittsburgh swept the season-series 2-0 both SU and ATS by a combined score of 59-24.
