About the only thing that the Ducks haven’t gotten right of late is that they weren’t able to beat the Detroit Red Wings on the road. Still, they left Joe Louis Arena with a point, something that most teams haven’t been able to do during this NHL record setting run of 20 straight wins at home for the Wings. That being said, Anaheim is continuing to inch closer towards the playoffs with each successive point that it is getting, and if it can play well on this roadie, which stretches to nearly the end of February, it might have a shot at turning what once looked like a lost season completely around. Corey Perry has been on fire, and he is coming off of a hat trick in a 5-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. This is one of the many men on this offense that really slacked at the start of the year, but if Perry can keep it going offensively, there is no doubt that this is one of the most talented teams in the entire league, especially offensively.
It has been a wild season for the Wild. They once held a tremendous lead in the Northwest Division. It isn’t all that shocking to think that they ended up blowing that lead, especially with the way that the Vancouver Canucks have been playing of late, but what is so shocking is that the squad is basically on the verge of not getting into the playoffs. There is a ton of offensive firepower that was added onto this team before the season started in a trade with the San Jose Sharks. It is true that Dany Heatley is the team’s leading point man with 39, but that total shouldn’t be what is leading the team right now. As a result, the offense has some massive lulls, just like it has had over the course of the last five games when the team only has scored six total goals. It should go without saying that these last four games have all ended in defeat, and Minnesota only has one point to show for its work in those duels.
Anaheim Ducks @ Minnesota Wild Pick: The Wild are fool’s gold, but there is definitely too much sentiment right now that the Ducks are for real. We could reasonably get Minnesota as a home underdog in this one, and if that is the case, we are going to take tremendous advantage of that fact on Tuesday night.
