NCAA Football – Week 4
Two of the top teams in the Pac-12 this year meet in college football betting action on Saturday night at Autzen Stadium, where the Oregon Ducks take on the Arizona Wildcats.
Arizona hasn’t exactly come out of nowhere this year, but it is really a surprise that the team is 3-0 this year. Of course, the Wildcats have only won one game that they were really supposed to lose, that being the game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and aside from that, there hasn’t been all that much to talk about. The U of A is averaging 604.7 yards and 46.3 points per game this year, and it is one of the only teams in the land that ranks in the Top 20 both in rushing and passing. QB Matt Scott needs just five yards to get to 1,000 for the year, and he already has seven TDs through the air and two on the ground. Four receivers already have at least 100 yards through the air, and seven different receivers have touchdown receptions. The defense just hasn’t done the job for the most part, allowing just a ton of yards in all of the games, save for last week’s 56-0 wipeout of the South Carolina State Bulldogs.
The Ducks haven’t covered a game this year, but they are still averaging 596.3 yards and 54.0 points per game. The ground game has been out of this world, averaging 329.0 yards per game, and looking at the numbers for this club almost look like they are straight out of a video game. RB Ayele Forde has 84 yards this year, and he is fifth on the team in rushing. QB Marcus Mariota is averaging nearly 40 rushing yards per game, RB Byron Marshall has 189 yards, RB Kenjon Barner has 324 yards, and of course, WR De’Anthony Thomas has all sorts of numbers. Thomas leads the team in receiver with 11 receptions for 154 yards and three scores, and he has 228 yards on just 13 carries with four TDs as a rusher as well. Mariota has done a great job taking over for this offense as a freshman, completing 75.3 percent of his passes to the tune of 8.8 yards per pass attempt to go with all of his rushing yards.
Oregon is clearly the better team in this game, and we think that the time is here for the Ducks to get their first cover of the year. Kelly’s club does play some big time defense at times, and in a game like this one, the Wildcats have to know that they are in some trouble. This could be a huge romp from the get go, as the U of O flexes its muscles. Oregon 48 – Arizona 22
