The Mississippi State Bulldogs are one of the best stories of the college football season as they sit atop the college football rankings late into the year. In order to maintain that spot they will need to hold off the perky Arkansas Razorbacks when they come to Starkville in search of an elusive SEC win.
The Razorbacks do not have the record to show it, but they have played much better this season. They have taken the best teams in the country to task, yet they do not have any big wins to show for it. A win on the road against arguably the best team in the country certainly would be a signature win for a football program with a bright future.
In the last outing the Razorbacks made short work of UAB winning 45-17. There was more than one outstanding performance in the blowout victory, but the one that will make all the highlight reels is when 350-pound offensive guard Sebastian Tretola had a touchdown pass. This play will be on all the sports shows and should even be a top play from a busy college football Saturday. The Hogs ran the ball well and got everyone involved in the passing game as nine receivers were able to catch passes in the victory. Now their attention will turn to the Bulldogs.
The Razorbacks defense will be focused squarely on the play of quarterback Dak Prescott. He has been responsible for 23 touchdowns in six games, one more than Tim Tebow had through six games in 2007 when he was responsible for an SEC-record 55 touchdowns. A true Heisman hopeful Prescott will lead this team into the showdown with hopes of yet another big win as they try and navigate a difficult SEC schedule and finish undefeated on the season.
The latest college football betting trends for this game reveal some very interesting wagering angles that should be taken into account before betting on this game. The Razorbacks are 6-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game, 35-16 ATS in their last 51 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game and 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games in November. The Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
The Razorbacks are a formidable opponent and although this will be a tall order, if they can win they can send shockwaves through the college football world.
