The 2013 MLB season is no longer in its infancy and teams have begun to jockey for position. Divisional leaders and competitions are now underway in what is looking like another great year of baseball. Tonight in the National League East the Atlanta Braves have already taken a decisive lead over the other teams around them. Their record currently stands at 28-18. The team has managed to win 7 of their last 10 and are absolutely on fire lately, having won 6 games in a row up until today. While they have completed dominated at home, losing only 5 games thus far, their road record is even at 13-13. This could be an opportunity for their divisional rivals to gain some ground as they are heading north to New York for a series with the Mets.
Though they have a losing record at home and while visiting, the Mets have mustered a few wins in NYC at Citi Field. A few clutch victories in the city could really spark the team, even if it does not necessarily change their positioning in the East immediately. They have been on a bit of a losing streak as well, dropping the last 3 games to the Cincinnati Reds. You could say that now is an excellent time begin turning things around. Unfortunately, their record is no indication that they can put this kind of effort together at present. Plus, their choice of starting pitcher is screaming “you can definitely crush us today”.
Tonight, the Mets are intending to start Jeremy Hefner, who has yet to collect a win this season, on the mound. He has put together a 0-5 record and an ERA of of 5.00. Not a bright outlook for the beginning but who’s to say, maybe they can keep things close and squeak one out. The visiting Braves team intends to put Kris Medlan who has a pretty shabby record himself at 1-5, however his ERA is 3.02 and has struck out 38 batters in 56.2 innings pitched. Tune in to see what unfolds.
