Point Spread: Indiana -6
On Saturday NBA playoff betting action will continue when the Indiana Pacers play host to the Atlanta Hawks at 5:30 ET on TNT inside the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. This will be the deciding seventh game of this series that has gone back and forth with the Pacers winning Game 6 to force this do-or-die situation.
The Hawks blew a golden opportunity to knock out the No. 1 seeded Pacers on Thursday as they fell 95-88 on their home floor. Atlanta G Jeff Teague did all he could to keep his team in the game with 29 points, three rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal. While F Paul Millsap added 16 points, 18 boards, and five assists before fouling out after 42 minutes of action. The Hawks shot just 9-of-35 from three point range in Game 6 and that just won’t be enough to get the job done against this Pacers defense. They shot only 36 percent from the field as they made just 29-of-81 attempts in the game. Atlanta has won two of three games in Indy so far in this series and in both of those contests it scored over 100 points. That will have to be its goal in this all important Game 7 is to be sure it scores over the century mark to have a chance at pulling the upset.
The Pacers got the defensive performance they needed holding down the Hawks offense to a below par performance that enabled them to force Game 7. Indiana F Paul George scored 24 points to go with eight rebounds, and three assists in the win. The performance of F David West was also pivotal as he added 24 points and 11 boards, G Lance Stevenson added 21 points while G George Hill added 14 and dished out four assists. The Pacers got exactly what they needed from their starters in Game 6 as those guys combined for 83 of the team’s 95 points. In order for them to be successful in this game they must keep the scoring ‘under’ the total as they have lost two home games in this series with the ‘over’ cashing in both of those contests. There is some controversy surrounding George as he came close to leaving the bench area during an altercation on the floor. If the NBA rules that he did leave the bench it could suspend him for Saturday’s game and leave Indiana a man short.
The Pacers will be making a final-stand type performance in this game as they realize the cream must rise to the top in a contest of this magnitude. We do expect to see Indiana get the money line win in this game, but if the spread stays at -6 it may not be able to cover that many points. This will be a slugfest with the Pacers doing just enough to get the win and move on to the second round. The Hawks are 3-1-1 ATS in the L/5 meetings at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.Indiana 94 – Atlanta 92
