Game Overview

The Hawks are coming off a 110-90 victory over New York this past Saturday as four-point road underdogs. They are now 6-4 straight-up (7-3 against the spread) on the year and just one game in back of Miami in the Southeast Division. They have now won four of their last five games both SU and ATS with the total staying UNDER in three of the contests.

One of the big reasons for Atlanta’s early success has been its ability to consistently put some points on the board. It comes into this game ranked seventh in the NBA with an average of 104.7 points a game. Jeff Teague has led the way with 19.4 points a game but Al Horford is a close second with an 18.7 point scoring average. Horford also leads the team in rebounds with 8.3 a game. The Hawks as a team are shooting an effective 47.7 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from three-point range.

Miami has shown flashes of its championship form with a 7-3 SU record to start the year, but it has also had some issues with consistency on both ends of the court along the way. The Heat have been tough to bet on so far with a 4-6 record ATS. This past Sunday they beat Charlotte 97-81 to cover as eight-point road favorites, but it was just the second time they covered a spread in their last five games. The total stayed UNDER the 193-point closing line against the Bobcats after going OVER in four of their previous five outings.

The Big Three remains the big story for this team with LeBron James still at the top of the list with points (27.3) and assists (6.9) but Chris Bosh has vaulted to the top in rebounds with 5.8 a game. Miami is averaging 106.1 points a game while shooting a very impressive 52.5 percent from the floor (43.8 percent from beyond the mark). It is ranked 11th in the league on defense in terms of points allowed (98.6).

The Heat have dominated this divisional clash over the past few seasons with a 9-1 SU record in the last 10 meetings and an 8-2 record ATS. Atlanta is playing much better this season and it should be able to hang with Miami into the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for Hawks fans, the end result will be the same result with the Heat getting the win both SU and ATS.

Miami 104      Atlanta 94
