The good news for the Knicks is the fact that they were beaten by 33 points by the Heat in Game 1 still only counts for one loss. That being said, they clearly looked like a team that was defeated from the get go, and they are going to be well on their way to a bit of a disastrous series. Iman Shumpert, one of the team’s best perimeter defenders watched his season come to a close when he tore his ACL on Saturday in Game 1, and between that and the fact that Tyson Chandler is still suffering from the flu bug are really going to hurt this team defensively. The truth of the matter is that New York really has to stay out of foul trouble in this game. Chandler had four fouls at halftime, and the team committed 24 fouls over the course of the first 24 minutes of the game. Needless to say, it is going to be impossible to beat the Heat if the starting five for this team end up in foul trouble for the whole game, as the bench just isn’t going to be able to keep up when push comes to shove.
The Heat already knew that last year, they had a great shot of winning it all, and now, with Derrick Rose sidelined for the rest of the year with an ACL injury, they have just as good of a chance this year as well. LeBron James is going to be favored to go to his third NBA Finals in his career, though we know that he is going to have to come up with some clutch plays down the stretch in games at some point over the course of the postseason for the Heat to get the job done. Of course, Game 1 was really never an issue in this series for a team that is simply more talented than the Knicks are, and the Heat hope to exude that type of confidence once again in Game 2. However, as we said before, whether the win came by three points or 33 points, it still only counts as one game, and the Heat know that they still have some work to do just to get rid of a team that has the potential to be quite pesky over the course of the rest of this series.
New York Knicks @ Miami Heat Pick: After watching this series unfold this year, we just don’t know if the Knicks are going to be able to stick around. They have been crushed in the past by Miami both home and away, and we just don’t see it changing, at least here at American Airlines Arena in Game 2.
