Two teams that are hoping to be contenders on the NBA Final odds are going to meet on Monday night, when the Denver Nuggets face the Dallas Mavericks.
Dallas has been doing a lot of playing around with its lineup, and now, there seems to be a bit of consistency with the way that it has been getting results. Three straight wins at home have really helped out in the chase for the Southwest Division title, especially the 106-99 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. It was the third straight game in which the Mavericks were able to put at least 101 points on the board, and they are clearly playing some of their best offense of the year. Vince Carter and Rodrique Beaubois are both coming off of double digit point performances, and that is crucial knowing that Shawn Marion, Brendan Haywood, and Delonte West are all still out of the fold with various injuries. It has also helped that Dirk Nowitzki has been scoring a ton. As long as this stays the case, as we know the potential is there for with a team that is just this talented, the Mavs have the ability to beat anyone in the powerful Western Conference.
The Nuggets have been tinkering with their team as well, and the possibility is there to have a completely different looking team on Monday night. Wilson Chandler has been brought back to the Rockies after his stint in China, and he was clearly signed when the team dealt away Nene at the deadline. JaVale McGee was brought back in that trade, and he could be playing for the first time with his new team to start off this week. McGee is going to be a great addition to Kenneth Faried in the paint for the Nuggets. Faried, the rookie out of Morehead State, is coming off of a game in which he scored 18 points and 16 boards. He was the best rebounder statistically in the history of college basketball, and now, he is making his mark in the pros as well. Of course, Danilo Gallinari is starting to get his shooting stroke back from his absence, while Ty Lawson is still proving to be one of the more explosive point guards in the league as well.
The Final Word: This Denver team is really that good, and there is no doubt that it is going to have a real shot to be a force for the rest of the season. We don’t think that it is going to have any issues ending the Mavericks’ winning streak on Monday night.
