Baylor vs. Kansas State NCAA Football Free Pick/Preview
NCAA Football Betting Favorite: Baylor -3.5
If you haven’t seen Robert Griffin III play, you are really missing out on watching an electrifying football player. Griffin is clearly one of the best players in the nation, and he has led his team to a 3-0 start. Kansas State is fresh off a huge upset at Miami. The Wildcats were 12.5 point underdogs, but they pulled off the win in Florida. Can Bill Snyder’s team pull off a second straight upset this week?
Griffin III has statistics that are absolutely mind-boggling right now. He is completing 85% of his passes through three games, and he has 13 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Who else in the country can come even close to those numbers?! Griffin is certainly the star of the show, but he has plenty of help as well. Kendall Wright is a great play maker at the wide receiver spot. Wright has an amazing 31 catches in just three games. Terrence Ganaway has been a solid running back for the team, and Griffin is always a threat to take off and run with the football. Baylor currently ranks second in the nation as they average 594 yards per game.
The question mark for this Baylor team is clearly their defense. Baylor allowed 48 points at home against TCU in the season opener. They allowed 31 points against Rice last weekend. We know Baylor can put up a lot of points on offense, but can this defense do enough to help them on the road in tough Big 12 environments? Phil Taylor was a beast up front for this team last year, but he is in the NFL now. This week will be a real test for this unit.
Bill Snyder has made a habit out of getting the most out of his teams for many years. Snyder’s teams always play fundamentally sound football, and they play hard all the way until the final whistle. They beat Miami on the road last week, but this Baylor offense will be a huge test for them.
Collin Klein was the star of last week’s win at Miami. Klein threw for two touchdowns and ran for 93 yards in the team’s shocking win over the Hurricanes. John Hubert ran for 166 yards on just 18 carries in the win as well. This is a Wildcats offense that likes to run first, but they’ll definitely throw in some play action passes. The team is lacking in talent at wide receiver, but Chris Harper is a solid target on the outside. The Wildcats defense ranks sixth in the nation in total defense and seventh in points allowed at just 10.3 points per game. It should be pointed out that part of the reason they rank so highly is they started the season by playing Eastern Kentucky and Kent State.
Baylor has yet to go on the road this season, and Snyder’s team will likely make life difficult on them this week. It won’t be a popular pick, but I’ll take Kansas State plus the points here.
